Tosca Azzurra Tin Original Cantucci Biscuits 200g

£18.50

Best before date: 30/09/2024
1858. This is the year Antonio Mattei created his personal recipe, a variant on an already popular biscuit in the northern part of Italy. Known worldwide with the name of Cantucci, or cantuccini, they are not your usual biscuit: the almonds and pine nuts make them crunchy, not too sweet, loved by all.

This biscuit tin is part of the ongoing series of tin packaging designed by Simone Massoni, a talented artist from Florence, in collaboration with his wife Ilaria Falorsi. It captures the essence of Tuscany as envisioned by the Antonio Mattei Biscuit Factory. Drawing inspiration from the geometric patterns often found on maps, the design highlights a selection of iconic monuments and landmarks from Tuscany that are globally recognized. Notable features include the two entrances of the historic Biscuit Factory in Prato and the newly established Museum Bottega in Florence.

The artwork also includes a distinguished figure, none other than Antonio Mattei himself, the visionary founder of the Biscuit Factory dating back to 1858. In this portrayal, he takes on the role of an unwitting tourist, complete with his classic walking stick, exploring the wonders of the region. The blue color is inspired by the splendid Tuscan skies, which can be admired from seaside towns, countryside, mountains, as well as from the historic cities and small villages.

The best way to experience these Antonio Mattei cantuccini is at the end of a meal, with a small glass of sweet wine, like Passito or Vin Santo, tea or coffee. Summer or Winter, morning or evening, with a hot or cold beverage, they are always a great way to pause, and indulge on the moment.
