Best before date: 31/07/2027

Perché Ci Credo Organic Tomato & Basil Pasta Sauce combines organic Italian tomatoes with basil, gently fried onion and extra virgin olive oil. Slow-cooked in Lecce, southern Italy, it has a rounded tomato flavour, savoury sweetness from the onion and the familiar herbal character of basil.

Made with 84.75% organic tomatoes, this Italian sugo al basilico uses a fuller recipe than the brand's simple Mother Tomato Sauce. Onion is lightly fried in olive oil before being combined with tomatoes and basil, creating a sauce suited to everyday pasta dishes.

How to enjoy

Warm gently and toss with spaghetti, rigatoni or penne, adding a little pasta cooking water if needed. Finish with grated Parmesan or fresh basil, or use the sauce between layers of pasta in a homemade lasagne.

FAQs Answers to common questions about this product.

What is sugo al basilico?

Sugo al basilico is an Italian tomato sauce flavoured with basil. Recipes vary, but this version includes onion and extra virgin olive oil for a fuller flavour alongside the tomatoes and basil.

How does this compare with a plain tomato sauce?

This variety contains 1.94% basil, together with onion and extra virgin olive oil. Compared with Perché Ci Credo's Mother Tomato Sauce, it has more savoury depth and a more pronounced basil character, making it a good choice when you want a sauce that needs little additional seasoning.
